So, went in yesterday afternoon having had the amp at the service engineer's for about three or four weeks. He'd changed a bunch of corroded capacitors and off I went.
Switched it on and within five minutes, the right channel dropped out again. Brilliant.
So, £75 perhaps not wasted, but the guy's not checked it out fully as far as the volume pot is concerned. Downside is the pot is sealed off (i.e. housed within a 'box' of sorts) which makes accessing it an issue. Not impossible but needs a dextrous hand and a small drill.
So, the work sounds good to the left channel, but the right is currently knackered.
Sadly, there's no comeback now on the Ebay seller who pitched this as in good working order. Not, as experience would suggest, that it's anything but. So near and yet so far, etc.
It's going back in, probably next weekend, but am a bit cheesed that the guy hadn't checked for this, especially when I'd described the problem.
