samsung le40a856 or panasonic th42pz80 to replace my sony 40w4500

hi guys,iv decided to exchange my sony (wich has bad clouding in the right corner) with 1 of the above sets. apart from the clouding the sony is a fantastic set, does any 1 know how the samsung and pana compares to it and each other ? the only thing putting me off the panasonic is the power consumption it uses 385w my pioneer uses 299 is that a big differance? thanks

Its a hard one to say. Both are excellent tvs. You should go and look at them for yourself and decide what you prefer. Personally out of these 2 i think the samsung is better, but its probably more expensive. Isnt the pz80 a the lower end of pannys big tvs, whereas the samsung series 8 is on the higher end of sammys big tvs. I have th 46a856 and think its a very nice tv. The samsung is probably closer to the W4500 sony as its lcd and in straight competition. The panny is a plasma. Both great tvs tho. Up to you for final decision.
