hi everyone just wondering if anyone has had any experience with this set. I am seriously considering purchasing it as have been quite impressed with both picture wise and feature wise. it will be hooked up to sky+ and also my ps3 for games and blu ray and will also be lookin for a suitable home cinema system once i have saved my pennies again. if anyone has any input please let me know as all advice would be most helpful. also are the hdmi connections of the 1.3 variety.

cheers

Hi Kev.

I bought one a couple of weeks ago and have been very pleased with it so far. The picture is superb with my PS3 for games and truly impressive with Blu Ray films, obviously a few adjustments need to be made to get the best out of it....don't use the dynamic setting....it's terrible!!! The freeview reception is excellent, better than any other I've had. The connectivity is also fantastic.

All in all it's the best TV I've had and when hooked up to a good home cinema system will suit most peoples' needs.

I bought mine from JL online for £999.99 with a free Samsung HD DVD player. Then last week it went down £200!!! I called them up, not happy, and they gave me £200 back....fantastic!!! Also with JLs 5 year free warranty. So all that for £799.99 and I'm a happy man!

Hope that helps.

I think it's a close run thing. I was also looking at both of these sets, for weeks!! The Sony is also very impressive and gets 5 star ratings everywhere. The Samsung gets 5* ratings in all review magazines and online, that was until WHFI dropped a star when the Sony came out. For me it is a 5 star purchase. Having seen both in action, side by side, both on Blu Ray and freeview, it is a close run thing. The Sony is very sharp on imaging when watching blu ray, but is really let down on its freeview and SD playback. Whereas the Samsung is also very sharp on blu ray playback, has strong Freeview and SD playback has greater connectivity and is £200 - £300 cheaper.

Both sets are very stylish also and would look good in anyones' lounge.

i know i have just been to check them both out at our newly reopened comet store. viewed them both side by side using a number of sources that i will be using. through much humming and hawing i think i have decided on the samsung set. this set impresses me more than the sony in each of the categories so fingers crossed when it gets delivered it will still be the same set up in the house. very nice tv . now next thing will be a home cinema system let the fun begin again haha
