Samsung Galaxy S3 beats iPhone 5.....

Samsung appears to have gone on a full assault on the iPhone. The Galaxy S3 is available for less than £400, making the iPhone 5 suddenly look very expensive:

Besides, Galaxy S3 mini is rumoured to be launching shortly which looks like will sell well.

Doesn't surprise me at all. I've got a 4S, I'm 6 months into a two year contract with it, but other than the bigger screen there's absolutely nothing about a 5 which is making me wish I'd waited. Even if I'd not been 'allowed' iOS 6, I still wouldn't feel particularly left out.

Yep, it's the same for me.

And I like a phone that still fits my pocket.

As I got the 4 shortly after it was out, I was due an upgrade a few months before the 5 was released and went for it. The larger screen is better, but the improvement in speed is a big plus. Perhaps unlike the Samsung, there is no question of the 5 not 'fitting in your pocket'. It is only slightly taller, but is significantly slimmer and lighter. It is also the best built phone around IMO.

Doesn't anyone else think this article is a bit daft? It basically says Samsung sold more phones in a month than Apple did I a weekend. iPhone was released 21st of september, by the 25th all iPhone stock was depleted. Apple don't count orders as sales, so there is that as well.

Not saying Samsung is or isn't selling more phones (they probably are) but this article is not really news.

It's also only talking about UK sales - so the iPhone sold 5 million devices globally, but how many of these made their way to the UK? Probably only a reasonably small percentage.

But like a lot of tech reporting sites these days, it's using some statistics to make a point that isn't really relevant to anyone, but does have a nice attention grabbing headline which means it'll be read (and linked to) a lot and drive up the old hit rate / google presence.
