Any owners out there that can comment on how good or bad this is, I'm pretty much an apple fan most of the time, but I'm seriously struggling and getting frustrated with my "work" issued HTC desire S, It's slow to respond, dreadful to send texts / emails on.

This may bridge the gap between carrying my iPad everywhere (as long as I can sync drop box/office hd etc.) and stop me complaining about the damn HTC.

Comments please....

They're just a giant Galaxy S2 with a high res screen, which means they're very good, but far to big in my experience. I notice that many owners sell them on after a short while (people on various websites that I keep an eye on), as I did.

Maybe I'm looking at the Note from the wrong angle, but I can't help thinking that it's a product stuck in no mans land, it's too big to be a phone and too small to be a tablet. I can't comment on its performance though, just not interested enough to find out.

I can't help thinking that the Kindle Fire will be a much better proposition as a more portable iPad alternative - although you'd still need big pockets!! Assuming Amazon ever get around to releasing it in the UK. :?

I really like the Note, but then I do use my iPhone mainly for texting/emails/web browing – far more than actually making calls – and the iPhone screen now seems a bit small for that. Conversely, the Note does look a bit big when you hold it up to your ear to talk to someone.

Some real interesting stuff, here, I can't make my mind up either.

My (Personal) iPhone, spends most of its time being used for text/email/web browsing and not many phone calls to be honest.

My iPad is great for work stuff, ( typing quotes/email/presentations/showing pdf/data to customers) but isn't as transportable and my wife / kids all ways want it, even though they have an iPad 1, too.

I hardly ever use my work phone (which this would replace) on my ear, I tend to make all my calls on the go, whilst driving on my hands free, (generally my most productive part of the day) and I do feel another iPhone would be too small.

I do like the idea of the rather old fashioned stylus to make notes, decissions, decissions.

Anyone with hands on experience?

I've had three phones with styluses, and don't really fancy going back personally. The only advantage I can see is for sketching as I never liked note taking with a stylus (my handwriting is appalling so never got along with it). But since I am appalling at sketching too, its of no use to me. There is nothing stopping you buying Autodesk Sketch and a stylus and using it on a One X or an S3?

Bizarrely, If I was a lady I would probably love the note. Not that I think its in any way feminine, its just that women get hand bags, men have to live with what they can fit in their pockets and I think its just too big.

Paul, love it the whole hand bag statement. Good thought though, I need to measure my suit jacket pockets to see if it fits, because the idea of note, would be that it would save me carrying my messenger bag to some meetings (with my iPad in) for example if I was out with one of the younger engineers and he had all the docs. Etc. Hence me needing just the bear essentials.

Ive got a stylus for my iPad for note taker HD, as I tend to scribble faster than I type, and I can use it to make edit notes on stuff the sales team send me for checking. Hmm

I went for the note (SIII delays sealed it) and seems to work rather well. I see what you mean about the size, but I'm sure I can live with it (although it's only been a day).

Just trailing a dual sim adaptor at the moment from magic-sim, if I can live with being on the andriod OS rather than iOS this could save me having to carry 2 phones with me, I'll give it a weeks trial before I sell my 4S (expecting withdrawal symptoms soon).

What are you all hating on the Galaxy note for? I just don’t understand. I actually own one. I got it because I was sick of looking at tiny screens. Most people do not use their phones to surf the net much because of having to pinch and zoom all the time. I sign PDFs on my phone, open attachments and respond to email face book, you name it, all on the go. The video camera is very very good.

Also looking at pictures, playing games or watching films is far more satisfying on a big screen than a small one. Oh as for the stylus, that's an added benefit. I love to write and do not want to loose them skills. Its also a very quick way of taking notes that can can be converted to text. You are all missing out!

I only use my laptop for serious work even when I am at home. It’s so much easier to use the Galaxy Note on wifi for anything else including playing mucis via bluetooth from the phone. People say it’s to big but that’s crazy. I see people walking the streets and on the train with tablets so how can people say the Note is to big, where is the logic there. I can slip the note into my pocket without any uncomfortable problems and I do not have to worry about being mugged. You can't do that with a tablet.

I’m from London and I’ve had this phone for nearly a year. It’s been great over all and I can not go back to a small screen again. It’s fast, reliable and can do anything a tablet or any phone can do. My son loves it and Iphone users always look out from the corner of their eye at this bad boy. My 4 year old isn’t interested in my partners Iphone anymore. The Iphone is a great phone but I refuse to be part of the Apple cult, its costly and spooky. Android all the way baby.

the galaxy note is a great phone.

it is better than the galaxy 3

but it might be heavy and the design is not too attractive.

if you already have a smart phone and a i-pad i wouldn not reccomend buying it
