These are two TV's I'm looking at, they are both at the top of my budget, and I know the Samsung is 3D, but I won't be using that feature at the moment (do to cost of bluray, glasses, non 1.4HDMI amp)

What are peoples thoughts of these two? (i know the 713 is very new, but not that much different)

I think picture wise there will be very little in it. The Samsung has a whole package though is very good with lots of bells and whistles. The internet@tv is slicker than the Sony. BBC iPlayer is better on the Samsung but the Sony also has 5 on demand. You can record onto a usb drive. It supports more file formats for streaming/usb viewing. There are more controls to get the best out of the picture on the Samsung. The stand is also more sturdy. If you have an iPhone/Touch you can use it as remote control with an app. This is very slick and fast. Great if you want to use some of the widgets which require typing. Things against the Samsung though are no on/off switch so you can only put it in standby to switch off completely you need to turn off at the socket. There has been reports of jerkiness with bd playing at 24fps with motion control off. It can be remedied a bit by using the custom settings on the motion controls. There were also reports of this on my Samsung 46c750 (the ccfl version of the c7000). I never noticed it though. The Sony might have the edge when it comes to upscaling sd material from a Sky/Virgin box.

thanks for the detailed reply. I am learning more towards the samsung.

I did look at the 40" C750, as a lot of dealers have a package for £1000 with bluray player and galsses. I have now seen the 7000 with 5 year wrranty for £1000, less the £150 cash back off samsung have on.

I can get the EX713 for £800 with 5 year warranty.
