I have the Samsung ES8000 46" tv and was going to by the 2013 evolution kit for it as the price has finally dropped a bit to £169, I'm guessing there is a 2014 model about to come out, hence the reduction. Does anyone know when the 2014 model is due for release, how much it's going to cost and what improvements over last years model it has. Finally should I wait and buy the 2014 model or save a few quid and get last years? Any help would be great, thanks

Where do you buy the evolution kit from?

Can't say what the 2014 unit will do, but based off the 2013 unit, it seems to target the Smart Tv side of things. If you narrow it down, they can't improve the resolution or the contrast via a kit clipped on the back, so it will likely share similar focus.

Found this online elsewhere, not too helpful but it did give a bit more info, no indication when it comes out which is one of the main things I needed to know.

The new Evolution Kit will add Samsung’s 2014 Smart TV platform (that looks identical to the 2013 platform), a faster Quad Core Pro processor and the new
The new Evolution Kit adds primarily 2014 Smart TV platform ( similar to 2013) , a faster Quad Core Pro processor and the new multi screen feature The new motion-enabled remote control is also included.

In addition (some only relevant for OneConnect):

[*]HDMI 2.0
[*]HEVC decoding up to 4K in 60 fps .
[*]HDCP 2.2 (copy protection)
[*]MHL 3.0 (connect a tablet to playback 4K content on TV)
[*]USB 3.0

The Evolution Kit for Full HD models is expected to sell for the same price as last year’s model. The OneConnect is expected to be around 100-150 dollars more expensive.
