If i were to buy Pink Floyd 30th anni dark side of the moon, would it sound better on my Sony BD370 or Marantz cd6003?

Its the hybrid version and was wondering if its worth the upgrade.

A little confused by the different format benefits

Many thanks

Do you have a multi channel system? If so, buy it now, your ears will thank you.

Sold! Thankyou very much. at least i can do a side by side comparison.

Are all SACD beneficial in multi channel or just things like Pink Floyd?

Matt

Based on extensive reviewing of SACDs for Gramophone, on which discs most of the surround use is about creating ambience, rather than sounds whizzing around your head, I'd say multichannel done well is extremely beneficial.

Well I think DSOTM is a perfect example of something that benefits from multi channel sound but most of the SACD market is classical so I can only imagine it works well there too (not my field). I have 1 Jazz SACD and a few rock ones and I feel they all benefit from the 5:1 presentation. The only stereo SACD I have does not sound very different from the original to me.

Thanks for your informative posts.

I was a little reserved about using the Bluray player over the dedicated CD player.

I may look into other Hybrid SACD's as well then.

Any others that people can recommend to use on surround for something a little different?

MAny thanks
