Hi all,

Newbie poster, so please be gentle. After some extensive reading on this, it seems that this would be an ideal item to hook my iPod Classic up to my amp. Here's the killer question, though.....

I note that the GQ-24 comes with a range of connection options, from Mini Jack (£26), all the way up to Ultraplate (£57). So, is it worth paying double the price for the Ultraplate - will I really notice the difference? Does anybody have any active experience of the different variations available?

My system, which I am still putting together will consist of:
Cambridge 540A + Monitor BR2 + iPod via dock + QED Silver Anniversary Cabling.

Much appreciated.

Thanks,

Dave

Hi, the GQ-24 is great because it gives you a fixed line out from the iPod. Personally I would go for the basic RCA connections, spending Ultraplate kind of money on a connector for an iPod is OTT.

Davidkirbs, I use the GQ and the phonos are far better than the jack connection, and that is according to Apple. The ultra plates are a bit of luxury, but other factors such as what bit rate you have used to store your downloads and what hardware you use will make more difference.
