Rotel Tuner Fault

Hi all,

I have recently sold a Rotel RT850AL tuner on Ebay and my buyer has reported a fault that didn't exist before I posted it so it sounds like something has gone wrong in transit.

Apparently the LCD display after switching on stays bright for a couple of minutes, fades to very dim, then disappears altogether. The only way to get it back is turn it off and on.

I'm not an electronics expert so can anyone advise the likely cause and solution or is it likely to be an uneconomic repair?

If anyone can help I will be grateful!

Not an electronics expert, but did the item go insured for enough to cover such an eventuality (assuming it was damage in transit)?
