Hi guys,

Ive got the opportunity to purchase the KEF Q500's for a very reasonable price.

Do you know if the pair well with the Rotel RA-06se and the Rotel RCD 06?

Cheers!!!

🙂

I`ve never heard Kef & Rotel as a combination - Kef & Arcam yes which work very well together

Perhaps getting an audition somewhere would help to decide.

I would be interested in what you think of the Kef Q500 as I cannot find any reviews for them

The Kef Q500 could be my next upgrade.

I have the KEF Q500s (paired with Marantz 6000 series). I love them, which is why I chose them, but I would say that they are very analytical so poor recordings sound very poor indeed. As always you should listen before buying as there are subjective issues here and what sounds good to me might not to you.

Chris

PS My opinions relate mainly to Classical music (and some "pop"). How the Kefs would fair with genres I am unfamiliar with I could not say.

Well I play a lot of harder dance and drum n bass and got bored of the lack of low end on the closed cabinets of the Q500s and added a giant paradigm ported sub. Much more fun. They are great for details and are very clinical but need a ported design or a sub to satisfy me fully. I don't think rotel is a good match based on my auditions but liked Marantz and Cambridge and also Rega.

KEF used Marantz amplification to demo the 'Q' series at the Manchester Show when they were first introduced......

I'd suggest trying them with a Marantz PM6004, PM7004 or even Pearl Lite....

Thanks for all the info guys. Im getting them at just under half price of the rrp second hand. Im on a limited budget and it sounds good to me so i'll let you know how it sounds when ive had time to live with them.

Thanks again 🙂
