Rose tinted headphones....

When I was about 17 (1996 ish) my mate had a pair of these puppies (or very similar anyway) linked up to an average hifi.... and I remember them sounding stonking!

Were these every regarded as an "audiophile" speaker (sorry, hate that phrase) or mearly good for mnaking a party bounce?

I dreamed of owning a pair of these when I was about 12/13 (about 13 years ago now). I recall them being sold in Tandy, the now defunct high street electrical store. If I recall, they sold them 'per speaker' and were about £100 e.a.

I started saving for a pair, then my dad gave me his Morduant Short floor standers instead.

I never actually heard the Jamos, Ive always wanted to!

I have a friend with a pair. If you want high volumes that don't sound stressed, then they are useful. parties, gatherings etc.

But they are not hifi. There is a lack of midrange which affects vocals, and detailing isn't what it could be - my friend prefers the sound of his tannoy bookshelf speakers for general listening, and uses the Jamos for barbecues etc...

Thanks guys - I just remember loads of us having poxy mini systems with base enhancement settings, then this guy had some early top loading cd/tape/radio effort connected the Jamos and it absolutely rocked.... but as you suggest... mainly at parties...
