I'm recently retired and now have the luxury of enough time to listen to music again. I'm using a Denon 3802 av amp connected optically to a Denon 2800 Dvd player, with Tannoy Mercury S speakers and generally I think it sounds pretty good. The Denon's were rated as good with movies and music in their day and the Tannoys were highly rated as well. Reading the forum I notice that av amps appear to be frowned upon for music but I would be interested to know if anyone has or had a similar set up and improved it and in what way. The Denons were redundant from my 7.1 system which was upgraded as I wanted HD sound, Hdmi switching and blu-ray and are in a seperate room. I would have a fairly tight budget say up to £1000, but preferably less.
