Room Correction/Parametric Equalisation

You have some level of room correction and/or parametric equalisers in budget equipment like WiiM devices, and it's all the rage among all and sundry. Are these things really useful in such inexpensive devices, or just glorified tone controls? Is it just hype?

Cos all over YouTube, people like 'cheapaudioman' will call this a 'game changer', and the usual cliches.

If it has genuine quality room correction then yes, if it is just EQ and you know what you are doing (Have relevant measurement mikes and software) it can also assist, but room correction is more than just EQ.

On the 'game changer' though - there is a big issue in that most people don't understand the limitations and drawbacks of 'listening position compensation' and think it's a panacea. I'm not saying don't use it, but get the physical as correct as you possibly can. Such features should be the little bit of fairy dust you sprinkle on top at the end.
