I'm another of the ones 'no longer supported' after this year.
My 2015 Lenovo laptop currently does all that it needs to.
By today's standards, I'm led to believe it's done well....think it originally cost about £270.

There's always life in the old laptop/desktop. The Linux distribution such as Ubuntu or Mint are excellent and best of all, free. Your old PC without the Windows bloatware will run much faster. 🙂

Install a lightweight Linux distro like MX Linux or Linux Lite on it, it'll breath a new lease of life into it.

It Will perform far better than it ever did with the bloated spyware that is Windows...

Just thought, is your PC a brand like Dell, HP etc. or was it built for you?
With the latter there are parts you can probably retain should you wish to upgrade.
It's possible you just need to change motherboard and the CPU.

My PC was my kids first gaming PC. Nothing special by today's standards. I use it for basic office tasks, zoom meetings etc. We have talked about upgrading it but to be fair I want a small form factor PC or laptop it's far too bulky for where it's located.

I have one of those mini Pc's for emergencies from eBay second hand - see below. If I'm upgrading my main PC and temporally not working. I use my little PC for internet, word docs and Zooming, does the job and inexpensive.

Spiders. I know they mean me no harm and are more frightened of me than I of them (well, that's the theory), but I find them repulsive and scary - and they are doing their annual house invasion at the moment.

Good job Mrs GSV has some cojones and can be relied upon to pick them up and eject them from the premises...

I had a funny experience with one yesterday, the light wasn't on the passage.
I saw a black object on the staircase thinking it was a leaf that cat brought in from the garden.
I recoiled in utter horror when I picked it up, it unwrapped its legs on my palm, it was a monster of a spider!
Mind you I should have been more cautious, sometimes these are the moist stuff that get attached to their fur, I rather have it out with the spider! 🕷️ 🕷️

Slugs!!! don't know why but they really make me come close to throwing up, when I have to remove them from the cellar. Wish I could figure out where they get in. My two sons have gaming PC's down there, it's carpeted, two leather sofas down there. Just seeing them crawling across the carpet. YUCK 🤮

Ford had a stake in Mazda when my Mazda 3 was made, in fact the Mazda 3 was built on a Focus floorpan. The heated windscreen was a Ford invention and it's brilliant. Ford's patent expired a number of years ago so in theory Mazda and any other car manufacturer could make them. I missed it this morning. Not only are they great for clearing ice on the outside of the windscreen but the condensation on the inside. Sitting in the car this morning ready to go work in the CX-30 the ice on the outside was cleared fairly quickly but I ended up resorting to a towel to clear the inside. What is it with modern cars and the level of mist/ condensation on the windscreen on cold mornings?
First world problems I know.

I've noticed over the years of car ownership exactly the same issue as you, condensation on the inner glass as soon as you get in, on a cold day. I'm guessing cars have just got better door and window seals than they used to have

North West England on the Lancs/ Yorks border about 8 miles from Burnley on the Lancs side🤣. My son got up this morning and said "I bet there's ice on the car this morning it's freezing". "I replied no there won't be don't be daft" famous last words.

May be, I hadn't thought of that. I even have one of those cloth bags with silica or something inside that keeps the screen clear normally but it needs putting in the microwave to dry out/ recharge.

I remember when cars used to have "air vents" in the floor, so you could see the road and, still be damp enough for mushrooms to grow in the floor carpet.

Yeah, I do remember them. I've also owned a few Fred Flintstone cars in my youth with holes in the floor under the mat 🙂 Bit of a bu**er if you drove through a deep ford🙂

One of my favourite cars ended up being like that. A MK1 Astra in metallic green, I loved it but I spent a fortune trying to cure a leak in the end there was daylight between the door sills and the floor pan both sides of the car.

I've deleted my bad review of them - one of the slats has warped, but it's not an issue of how it was installed. Still deeply peeved with Hygge though. We'll see where it goes.

After much to-ing and fro-ing (and a couple of threats about going to trading standards), they've agreed to supply and fit - as they should have done in the first place. When I've made sure everything has been done properly and that the same issue doesn't recur, I'll be posting a straightforward, factual review.

I got a little spooked when I woke up this morning, I noticed the IKEA external wardrobe lighting was on, I was mulling over who could have switched it on (my wife is abroad)? Nelly the ghost? Was it the cats? Did Zoya or Flynn jump up behind the door and switch it on, I can almost hear them say, “Hello Jason wake up”. No that’s really daft.

Went over to the study room and I noticed, the amp, the DAC receiver were switched on and downstairs in the dining room, the TV and HiFi were all switched on. Yes Sherlock, it must have been a power outage middle of the night. We do get quite a few of those where I live, the local grid really needs to be upgraded.
Anyway mystery resolved, yep I’ll put the pipe away. One last puff.

I live in a freezer most of the time, so knew something strange had happened when I awoke to a warm house.

Their reconnection of power cuts is not always a clean affair.
In my case the boiler timeswitch had been toggled from off, into 'constant on' mode.
And I wasn't too keen when once watching 2 or 3 mains reconnection attempts on my 'smart' amp.

All electronics are now isolated from the mains in my house when not in use.
And I mean all, including the washing machine (don't even have a router, now that I'm tethered to mobile data).

Of course that's totally impractical and undesirable in most houses - and I know that most people couldn't / wouldn't care less about such things....even if they came back off holiday to find the heating and their old 500 watt garden auto floodlight had been on for 2 weeks.

Can you imaged the crazy cost of the utility billing they would have raked up, while they were away.
