Rookie looking for an amplifier

Hey guys,

Amateur looking to build a Hi-Fi system, and looking for a decent amp(For my budget). Price range £180-£250

I've narrowed down possibilities within my price range to the following

Onkyo A-9010

Yamaha A-S501

Marantz PM6005

Rotel RA-10

Speakers I'm planning on are the Q Acoustics 3020.

LP player will eventually be connected too.

Music is varied, rock, reggae, jazz, classical, country, blues some hip hop. But no house d&b etc.

Any advice would be appreciated on which amp is the best for its price and my requirements.

Thanks

Welcome to the forum.

I can only advise on those I have heard and that would me the Marantz and the Onkyo, and best bet is the Onkyo.

My guess is it would depend on how much the turntable is going to be used and the quality of the included phono stage.

There's a major omission from your list. The Denon PMA720AE is a bargain at current prices and as good as anything you have listed. I've just changed back to one from a Rega Brio-R and the Denon is more natural and atmospheric sounding. With QA speakers set up well on stands the combination is enveloping and holographic with extremely good accuracy of instrumental timbre and excellent vocal reproduction. Very good phono stage too.

Hey, thanks for your suggestion. Price point is spot on there.

Just such a tough decision when you know nothing about amps, as each one has good reviews and people vouching for it.

Not as easy as picking out a PC and just combing through the spec sheet.
