Ripping DVD-A discs

Is it possible to rip the hi-res audio from an DVD-A disk to copy onto a DAP ?

Is it a protected disc? If not, handbrake will do the trick. If yes, try some ripping tools like DVDFab, Free DVDAid or so.

I'm considering buying hi-res player (fiio etc) but don't really want to go down the route of downloading hi-res audio as i like to have physical cd's.

I do however have quite a few sa-cd's and dvd-a discs with hi-res formats of albums which i would like to be able to utilise and copy onto a hi-res DAP.
