What the difference?

Is it massive, I know some of the dali range has it as does the platinum range on the MA.

The ikon range is less than a 1000.00 but the Platinum range is like 5000.00

Manufacturers may choose slightly different drive units to the norm if they're trying to achieve a certain goal. I would say that designing a speaker as a whole and making it work properly is more important than which type of drive units it uses.
