I'm curious as to why Loewe TVs haven't been reviewed by the magazine for quite some time now? They do advertise frequently in the mag so aren't they forthcoming in providing review samples?

Firstly, as has been said many times, the adverts that appear in the mag have nothing to do with editorial - the ed team don't know what ads are going to appear until we open the mag (and vice versa with the ad team not knowing product ratings until they see the published mag).

Secondly, we've reviewed every generation of Loewe set in recent years, but typically they only have review samples of one size - so you'll only see a few tests a year. That's no criticism of Loewe - i'd say it's par for the course with premium brands.

Finally, there's a review of the new Loewe Art SL TV (42in model) in our current, June issue (p9) - that review will appear online in next week or so.

Thanks for the response Clare. I suppose your answer is also applicable to other "premium" manufacturers like B&O and Bose as well?

Thanks for the link to the review. Yikes! At that price, might as well get a 50 inch Kuro. Is the Loewe even a LED LCD or just a "normal" LCD?

You could always try a Sharp. According to Wikipedia, Loewe make TVs for them.ÿ

Is that so? Strange, I thought it would be the other way around given that Sharp has its own factories producing LCD TVs.

But Sharp TVs do seem to get consistenly low ratings by WHF - most of them are at 3 stars if I'm not mistaken.

Loewe use Sharp LCD panels.

Anyone buying a Loewe or B&O TV needs to accept the fact that they are paying a massive premium for over-engineering and design. Picture performance tends to be similar to top end TVs from more mainstream manufacturers, but the audio side of things tends to be considerably better.

Clare, considering the Loewe is probably double the price of a very very good screen of that size (I'm talking about the latest review), and it still gets 4 stars, does this mean it's as good as it gets but can't get 5 starts as there are similar for a lot cheaper?

Matthew, am I right then in thinking that Sharp ship their panels to Loewe, who then manufacture the TVs in their German plant? Might post a correction on Wikipedia if that is the case, because what they currently say is a bit misleading. I presume the info that Sharp own 29 percent of Loewe is accurate, however.ÿ
