returning my Philips 9705

I have decided to try and return the Philips TV 46 9705, due to my disappointment over the 3D stuff. I have had an 'on-line' chat with one of the customer service team who state there is a 30 day satisfaction return policy, but I can't find it in any of the literature. Can anyone point me in the right direction please?

I'm pretty sure 30 day return is standard policy for retailers nowadays, give the place you bought it from a call.

desperate for help, the retailer has refused to take the tv back and give a refund, unless in it's original box, which, like an idiot, I got rid of.

Phillips have offered to come round and inspect the set, but I am more of the opinion that the 3D inability of this set is unresolvable in the short term and I just want my money back. what a nightmare

The 3D issue has been addressed so it may be premature to send the TV back. There is no automatic right of return if you bought it in a shop but keep your head and reamin polite and a goodwill return may become an option. You have more chance if you buy another product rather than ask for a refund.

I am still being polite though! I was the idiot that ripped up the box!

I will check. It was a local Philips agent that I purchased it from so technically he isn't a shop! He installs and supplies AV equipment. I will try the hyperlink you have offered, thanks
 
How exactly did you buy it? Online or by telephone? Or did he have a shop? Within how many days of owning the TV did you contact him for the problem?

You can also contact your credit card company (I hope you paid by credit card!) to resolve the dispute.

It was bought on the 30 September. I informed him of a problem last week. Within 30 days. The supplier was a local independent AV specialist. He doesn't have a shop but a registered business and is self employed. I thought I would support local businesses

According to Consumer Direct, if I can prove the goods are faulty, then I am within my legal rights to reject the product regardless of whether the original packaging is still available. I think it is feasible to conceive the product is faulty when Philips have recognised a fault themselves (my TV is within the range identified). I have tried the firmware upgrade and it made no difference to its ability. It just wasn't 3D. Problem is I didn't really want to lumber a local self employed businessman with a £2500 TV that he can't return to the wholesaler because it has no packaging and he can't sell it again as it is now for all intense and purposes 'second hand'. Glum

If Philips has acknowledged the fault, then he should'nt have any problems returning it to Philips.
