Hi,

First of all I would like to say that I am new to these forums and everything I will be asking has probably been answered before, so it would also be fine if you could point me to those threads/websites, and I could read up there. (I tried searching, and read a bit about certain things, but not everything).

So, I am buying a flat and will want to make living room a bit more that just a TV room. Im thinking of nothing too fancy, but just an easy way of controlling what I want to watch or listen. What I would ideally want:
-Watch TV with sound from separate speakers
-Use TV as a PC screen on demand
-Use speakers as PC speakers on demand
-Use TV to watch files from PC
(optional, but would be nice)
-use TV as tablet/phone screen on demand
-control everything via phone/tablet (android), or some unified remote

I've been reading a bit, and what I think I need is:
TV (with DLNA)
Speakers (I'm leaning towards 2xFloorstanding Speakers)
A/V Receiver (with amp inside) (with DLNA if TV doesnt have it)
PC
HDMI cables

Set up would be:
Connect both speakers to A/V receiver (make sure that receiver has enough power for the speakers). Connect TV to receiver. This would allow TV watching/music listening via speakers.
Then, use HDMI splitter to connect PC to A/V receiver - would this allow to give audio and/or video via TV/Speakers?
And for streaming, DLNA either in receiver or TV would help? Or is there something else? (I've never used DLNA).

I would really appreciate someone taking a look at my plan, and pointing any flaws or other best practices.

Thanks!

Hi, thanks for reply.

I have a PC, phone, tablet (both android), and will be planning on spending 1000-1500 pounds (1600-2500 dollars) on everything else. I know that it is not too much, but maybe it will be enough.

I havent looked a lot at the particular pieces of equipment too much yet, but was thinking of something like (in pounds): ~500 TV, ~500 Floorstanding speakers, ~300 A/V receiver.

However, my original concern is if my plan is correct, or maybe I need some other things as well.

Purpose of this system will be listening to music (from PC/internet radio), playing games, watching TV, and watching movies from PC/netflix via TV/speakers. No need for a cinema room.
