My aged and beloved Musical Fidelity E10 finally giving up the ghost, I’m based in a pretty and pretty remote rural area so can’t easily get it fixed and even if I could it’s probably debateable whether it’s worth throwing money at. The $64k question being, how far has amplification come on in the intervening (20?) years – can I get away with a sub £150 budget stormer or am I looking REGA Brio territory to keep me happy?

Note some of the alarming noises issuing from the MF suggest an A/B at a dealer isn’t really on the cards. Don’t need a phono stage as I bought a REGA Fono when I (mis)diagnosed the phono input as the issue :wall: final part of confusion, I’m using KEF XQ-1, the £800ish stand mounters, which I won and once I’d heard that midrange they weren’t going on eBay, I don’t think they’re a tricky load but they’re quite revealing. Source is PT+Rega 250+Rega Bias2 and ALAC/AIFF files via iPod Classic/Pure i20

Thanks!
