Any subs rival this at the price point, is bk elec worth time to look

velodyne are good but not as musical what I like, don't what a sub to sound like its been pulled out of a boy racers car

only to be looking at subs under £1300

Main problem and main benefit with the BK's is that they are sold direct. Bad in that you can't audition them. Good in that you don't pay dealer margin.

I'd guess, stress guess, that the top of the range Monolith Plus at £550 is broadly comparable to the Rel 528 in performance terms; from memory the specs says it goes below 20hz. And you could always get two of them!

if it was my money I think I'd take the risk, as I did when I bought my first REL all those years ago when they were only sold direct (it still cost me £500 then, at least 15 years ago if not more). It was a big risk but I never regretted it. Mind you the BK is a bit bigger than the REL if that's important.

FWIW. I preferred the Velodyne SPL1200 R / 1000R to the Rel Storm 5. It's now been replaced by the SPL Ultra range, which is worth checking out.

BK don't have built-in EQ, but are great VFM.
