Cambridge Audio 740C, Cambridge Audio 740A, and Mordaunt-Short MS914i.

I should have kept the electronics and upgraded the speakers to Mezzo 2s. I would have found hi-fi happiness much more quickly and without all the swapping and changing of the last year or so.

Audio Innovations Integrated valve amp, Trichord Genesis and Ruark Sabres II. Though whether I would still think these sound great today is another question though I'm generally happy with whatever I own at a given time whether cheap or expensive. The rare, odd duffer apart ...

Yamaha SG2000 such a beautiful instrument to look at and play. Stil not as soulful or vibrant as an SG standard though.

As far as hi fi goes, I haven't had that many systems, though my first one was rather special - bought at the age of 15 comprising a Marantz amp (cant remember the model but it had a typically Japanese unmemorable model number like 1010 or something), a Garrad early 80's plastic deck with an S arm that wasnt really up to much, again cant remember the model name, thought it was SP200 or similar (as a descendant of the SP25 - my father had the MkIV), and a pair of Wharfedale Denton loudspeakers.

Not exactly, but it was sad to see the Arcam Alpha 5+ cdp and the Marantz dvd player bite the dust after they stopped working (although the Arcam got replaced via an insurance claim with the Sonneteer).

Have always regreted selling my cd collection (well, all of 30 cd's) when I moved here, for next to nothing. Ended up re-buying most of it, except for the rare imports that I've never seen since. As a result I have never off-loaded any of my current collection, even though I know there's about a third of it I'll probably never listen to again.ÿ

The only thing I regret parting with was a pair of Quad II's, having had then refurbished to better than new. In some ways hopelessly outdated, a sod to match to pre and speakers, pig ugly, and difficult to house. But a pure joy to listen too, beguiling in the extreme with the right music. It had been my intention to run a 'retro' system alongside a modern one, but it was not be so they went.

I dont really change my hifi that much ,I am happy with my modest kit atm .It just makes music the way I like it, . I was going to sell my AE 109 though.but changed my mind . I know I will regret it. they still can cut the mustard.

Why sell the 192 to buy a 72?

I miss my Yamaha KX390 cassette deck. But the virtually complete ending of cassettes as a format forced the change. Even at the couple of car boot sales I have been to recently there have been no cassettes of any note. If someone ever comes up with a new format that puts computer based music files out of date I am going to go back to vinyl !

Matthew I can't keep up! What's happened to the NAD and Quad 11Ls?

I was sad to see my Marantz CD67SE break. I was sadder to see someone burn out my (very) old NAD amp and blow up the Goodmans speakers.

My beloved Tannoy Revolution R3's. Moved to a smaller house and replaced them with the smaller Tannoy Revolution R2's thinking that the sound would be pretty much identical. How wrong I was- like chalk and cheese!!! Now have Monitor Audio RS5's, so I have most definately gone backwards!
