I installed my new Rega Elex-r and I wonder whether it is normal that I hear a snappy noise when I power on the amp for the first time after a few hours. When I turn it off and on again there is no snappy noise.

Are there Elex-r owners who could share their experience?

According to the conclusion of this thread, it's normal ...

Normal according to this too ...

I admire Rega, but I'm surprised that this is considered ok. In my view the sound should be muted until the amp is ready to play. Cracks through the speakers associated with power switching on or off always worries users, and may not be ideal for speakers either.
