Rega Brio with Rega RIAA...???

Hi there

I am very happy with my Rega system ( RS 5 / Brio / P3 ) - but does anybody know if the Rega Fono MM phono preamp will be an improvement in sound if it is added to the system...? Or is it a waste of money...?

Im really no expert only joined forum today! I recently bought a pro-ject debut 3 which runs through a rega fono mini,its very small certainly not a looker but seems to do a very good job at a very good price,it then runs to my Hegel h70 which im very very pleased with.

the fono/mini phono is based on the phono stage of the mira 3 (if i remember correctly), which being £800 most likely has a better phono stage than the £330 brio 3. i had the £160 fono whilst my local audio t ordered me a mini and it sounded good. the mini one has the same sound but without the extruded ally case, but is a third of the price! if i were you i'd demo the fono mini a pre amp that sells for £100-200 more. you want to avoid the sideways upgrade!
