Hi forum users, Lately I been reading up on reference level listening. So this morning when wife at work and little man at grandma's I decided to dig out the YPAO for my Yamaha RXV2400 and do three calibrations to see if they were to differ, to my surprise they were within a whiska of each other. So now with the auto setup done would I be correct in saying that each speaker is at 75db or there abouts from the mic balanced on my head!! Lol. If so I then turn volume from -80 to 0 on the Amp & press play on T2 judgement day DVD, as I'm lead to believe this is reference level.

Loud was an understatement! My speakers are KEF 2005.1 from when they first released. Have I understood reference level listening or have I messed up! Tbh it did sound good lol.

Im not even sure what your talking about there, but 0 on the volume control means its playing its loudest (Not recommended)

No the volume goes to +14 my normal listening volume with the wife is around -27ish which she doesn't moan about. So at 0 it's not at full blast.

YPAQ should set things correct but you really should use a Sound level meter to check it manually and tweek the levels

By using this and the amp test tones you set each speaker to 75db

This usually equates to 0 on the amp volume which is probably too loud , I listen at -15 from reference

Cheers it was exciting however it was a tad loud even for me lol. I do wonder how it's going to sound once it's connected to an LGBD390 using either re-encode or the miltichannel inputs!
