Afternoon all. A while back, I posted regarding my (suspected) dying receiver and got a grand total of zero replies. Ho hum.
Anyway, to cut a long story short, I took it to my local repairer (Lester & Nix Trade Services - thanks for your time and efforts guys) and they found the DSP board was fubar and that a replacement would cost £342 +VAT
Sheesh, I only paid £350 for the whole unit 8 years ago!
So, for now, I'm just running everything source direct using analogue cables, but will retire the Marantz to stereo duties upstairs when I can find a replacement. My question is, should I go for a stopgap such as a four-year-old Denon, Yamaha, or Marantz if I can get one cheap enough, with a view to replacing that in the next year or so with something HDMI-equipped, or take the plunge now (notwithstanding the Awards issue, of course). Any suggestions welcome.
