Anyone have a recommendation for Miles Davis Kind of Blue album?

I have digital version and the Columbia Legacy LP but I'm pretty sure its flawed. Side B oscillates the cartridge in and out about 2mm, its like the record is off-centred by about 2-3mm......

There are so many versions out there by different labels, any recommendations?

RTI Sony Legacy

Sony Legacy Mono

MOV Mono

MOV 2014 stereo remastered

Not Now Music 2LP (mono & stereo)

Mobile Fidelity

I have the Columbia version and it's flawless, so I guess it's down to individual LP. Have you tried to contact your store and get another copy?

As you say, there are so many versions out there, and I think you are fortunate to have bought the very limited and very legendary WobbleSound edition, one of very few copies pressed when the record plant engineers were as stoned as the musicians were during the recording sessions.

It's how Miles would've wanted you to hear it.

Its Asia, before leaving HMV store, they expressly say, NO RETURN, even if the record is broken in half......tough.

Save your money for the Mobile Fidelity LP. Probably the best yet.

IMO the Columbia version with most tape hiss and pitch issues is the best. Later quieter remasterings with all the hiss cleaned up, tape pitch, wow and flutter fixes, all have some loss of detail.

Remastered original magnetic tape recordings somehow feel like someone photoshoped the grain out off old black and white photos.

Agreed.

The original US Columbia stereo 'six eye' stereo is regarded as the best sounding version although later stereo LP reissues on CBS also sound pretty good. The mono lp ( Fontana UK and Columbia US) lacks a little sparkle but it does benefit from sounding more like a band playing together. They're not cheap though.
