Had my 37px80 rigged up for a few days and couldnt figure out why the internal freeview reception is so bad compared to my old freeview box. By chance i turned my dvd off (cambridge audio dvd89 via hdmi) and the reception improved drastically.

I then went into the setup and looked at the signal quality and strength across the 6 multiplexes and found that on one of them in particular went from practically zero (unwatchable) with the dvd on and 70% (watchable, pretty decent) with the dvd switched off.

Can anyone solve this puzzle?

hi,

This reminds me of an issue I had with a Toshiba TV years ago.

With my VCR turned on I got an image of another channel coming through behind the channel I was watching - it was like a ghostly image where you could make out titles or the outline and movement of characters onscreen from another channel.

I was told that it was an issue with a fully wired scart cable and removing pin 8 (if my memory is correct) would solve it. I broke the pin off the scart plug and the problem disappeared.

With you using HDMI and not scart this doesn't solve the issue - just thought I'd share.

Cheers,

Cofnchtr.

Have a similar issue with my PX80. The freeview reception round here is not very good anyway, and turning the Panasonic integrated dvd/ home cinema system on can cause it to disappear altogether. Thought it might be something to do with a "loop" being created by routing the TV sound back to the dvd/reciever via phono cables but haven't had a chance to start pulling cables out to check. Would be interested to see if anyone has an explanation/cure.
