Receiver upgrade

Looking to upgrade my Sony STR-DA1200ES and would like Dolby trueHD and upscaling HDMI(with sound). Have seen Onkyo 806 in Richersounds for £399.99 which seems a good deal.......anything else in this price bracket which I shoud audition??

I'd seriously look at the big brother of your current amp - Sony STR-DA2400ES - brilliant reviews and i've had it under consideration.

Thanks for the info! Am I correct in thinking that if I use HDMI from say Sky HD through the receiver then there is no need for an optical cable to carry sound?

I think, for some reason, Sky HD doesn't output sound via the HDMI...

It's just an anomaly with Sky HD - you'll need HDMI for video and optical for audio. If you just rely on HDMI it will only output stereo and not the full 5.1.

I'm gonna take a listen to the Onkyo and Sony tomorrow at Richersounds.......my1200ES is going on a well known auction site if anyone's interested......still under warranty too.....
