Hey all. I am keen to pick up the following speaker system, and need some advice on matching the receiver.

Q Acoustics
2050i floor standing pair
2000Ci centre
2010i surround pair
2070Si sub

Receivers on my short list are:
Marantz NR1605 or Sony STR-DN1050. Emphasis on use is 50/50 split between movies & stereo music. Price point on receiver 500-1000GBP.

Questions -
1
1. Are these amps adequately powered and 'generally matched' for these speakers?
2. Is there a clear standout over one or the other?

My opinon would be if yort not in a rush is to wait till around summer/early autum as the new sound codecs from DTS are about to be announced and should be implimented in the new amps soon after. Also in the future if you wish upgrade to 4k, the amp needs the latest HDCP 2.2 and 4.4.4 colour outputs. But if you dont want the latest and greatest you will start getting good deals on last years bunch of amps so worth the wait either way.

But i would also add pioneer in to mix but as for a standout thats all preferance really. What one person likes another won't. There is also such a thing as speaker synergy but your dealer should be a ble to help you there.

Marzantz has a warm sound and pioneer has a detailed sound can been seen as bright as some, very similar to sony though a little smoother in my opinion.

But any amp from 500 upwards should be fine with power and quality bu the more you spend in general the better driven and controlled the speakers are.

Hope that helps

Cool, good to know I am on the right track. Thanks for the heads up re new codecs, will do some reading to see if it is worth me waiting. Was going to wait until end of financial year sales, so might work out well.

Cheers.
