As vinyl is non existant in charity shops ( Maybe you know better ) Does anyone know of a vinyl seller ( Not online ) within a twenty + mile radius of Colchester in Essex. Have purchased a few online but they they have not been in condition described. It is extremely disappointing to excitedly wait for the postie and then hear the click, skip as my expensive stylus jumps around.

Not within your 20-mile limit, but for new vinyl might be worth jumping on a train down to Liverpool Street and going to Rough Trade East.

I tried that but unless you're in the area it doesn't seem to be able to figure out how to show you stuff in a different part of the country (ie I'm in Bristol but even going to Colchester on the map and refreshing just took me back to Bristol, needs some work that app). It should work for the OP if he's in or around Colchester.

For anyone going to London there are a few vinyl shops in the Soho area. Sister Rays and Reckless records in Berwick St for rock and quite a few shops nearby for other genre.

I take the point, how about WHF doing a list of 'proper' vinyl shops, and their web sits?
In the meantime, having scanned through the web sit of Rough Trade East, I think its worth reconsidering and cheaper to order online . . . never mind the brownie points :? . . . although, there is still the take away :cheers:

How about Crazy Beat Records in Upminster. It's a bit further than 20 miles but you can have a look at their website first and see if it is worth the journey.

If you have made it all the way down to Liverpool Street, it is only another 1o mins to Oxford Street. Leave the other half there and have a stroll to Soho for all the vinyl selling shops down that way ?

Drove past a charity shop in Mersea, Essex that i hadn't seen before. Quick turnaround and on the shelf were about 40 LP's.
I would think they were part of somebodies collection because they were similar in musical taste. Looked clean so got a few ( Not saying what but nostalgic for me ) Played them and in absolute mint condition ........... 50p each .......... feeling ver pleased with myself.

A new vinyl outlet has just opened in Coventry Indoor Market, selling vintage and collectible vinyl, and shortly to also cover newer stuff. Not been there myself yet, but heard some very good reports of it.

My nearest town, Thame, has a Oxfam Book Shop which now has a new window wrap saying 'Music and Books' or something like that.
Always had a quite a few bits of Vinyl, even some signed stuff.

Not Nana Mouskouri etc. ........ still not saying but i worked in a tv and record shop when i left school and i sold lp's such as my charity shop choice. That would be 60's onward. First stereo single and first stereo record player. History in the making.
