R.I.P. Michael Mosely

Such an unexpected and tragic event.
Used to be a producer on Tomorrow's World, QED and Horizon.
Ironic that he subjected himself to extremes of temperature in some of his programmes.

I heard it said that he may have purposely wanted a break from his mobile phone during his holiday (I can understand that, as mine never leaves the house).
Sadly though, it may well have saved his life 😞

Always liked him, used to contribute to Science Focus sometimes.

Very tragic. He was a good guy, very interesting programmes and he seemed very fit and healthy. I'm not speculating but surely only mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the midday sun especially at the age of 67 and 40C temperature. Just sayin' we're not superman.

Very sad. Didn't know too much about him. I'm sure the extreme heat and lunar like hills had contributed to his sad demise.

Missed the first one, but he has a posthumous series (regrettably on C5) on Thursday's - piece in RT says the one this coming thurs features a serious bit about blood pressure, as well as a less serious bit about farting. Sounds like my kind of TV...

The only thing that I've bothered to turn the TV on for in ages.
Voiceover intro was done by his wife, who I believe has vowed to "continue his work".
Wouldn't be surprised if she ends up presenting things - but his style is what got him so much work of course.

Watched the second part last night - great TV. Many modern documentaries stretch a small amount over a long period, presumably to make it cheap TV, but this was the opposite - chock-full of interesting things, well-presented etc.

There was a tribute from Giles Yeo in the last Science Focus, and Mosley sounds like he was a thoroughly decent bloke.

Yes, featuring that famous blind woman, using tongue click echo location to 'see'!

Imagine what stereo imaging must be like for her, being able to detect miniscule time differences as well as she can.
