Quiet speech from front speaker

I've got a Denon 1507 AV receiver connected to 5.1 Tannoy EFX speaker set. I find when watching movies that speech is generally too quiet in relation to everything else that is going on, and i find myself constantly having to turn up the volume when dialogue is being used in films but then having to turn the volume down when action sequences are on as it becomes unbearably loud.

Is there a way with the Denon that i can adjust the volume settings on an individual speaker, maybe configure it to be at a distance further away than it actually is ?

Any advice ?

Thanks

Found the volume settings and have adjusted for high volume from centre speaker.

My brother in law has the 1508 with the same speakers - nice little system. His amp has an auto calibration so that you can define the levels on all the speakers and their distances from the seating area. Not sure that the 1507 has that but if it does, you would benefit by running it - it takes 30 seconds.

Yes the 1507 does have auto calibrate. I originally set up my speakers with this but it has given me what i consider to be a centre speaker that is too quiet during dialogue (though this may well be the fault of movies in general).

Was watching '30 Days Of Night' on the weekend. Lots of quiet dialogue / whispering as the characters hide from their vampire stalkers, then BOOM, some blood sucking fiend appears from nowhere and my surround speakers are taking next doors pictures off their walls.

I definately need to try to balance things a bit so i've now manually upped the centre speaker volume and will give it a try with a couple of movies to see if suits me better.

I faced the same problem when i purchase Wharfedale D9.CC centre 2 years ago. It sound like fart. I thought the problem might be caused by receiver. Looking for the truth, i switched the centre speaker to the right channel, and the right speaker to the centre channel. Then, the fart sound went right.. I discovered that my centre speaker was a broken stock. Retailer however had provide me a new one replacing the fart one. I hope this could help you find solution.

(i dont mean ti criticise, wharfedale diamond 9.cc, 9.cs and 9.1 actually sound very excellent)
