question re CDP & amp

Once (09.2007) Andrew recommended the Musical Fidelity XRay V8 with the X-T100 amplifier as a good option .

All the reviews on the internet of this CDP & amp are so so good. So I don't understand why doesn't everyone recommend it on the forums!?

If someone could provide me with some good explanations (apart from the issue of price) it would help me a great deal to understand and to make my choice.
