Question for Muljao

Hi Muljao,

i see in your specs that you have the PM6005 + QA2020i AND in another system the QA 3020.

Question: did you try to use the 3020 with the PM6005? And are the 2020i better with the Marantz?

The short answer is I didn't use the 3020 with the marantz.

The longer reason is that I had the 2020i with my Monitor Audio in a different room and Cambridge Audios with the marantz. The CA speakers faulted and as I listen more in my living room I put the 2020i in my living room. I could not get over how good they sounded there. It's probably a combination of positioning, the fact they are on stands etc (they were high wall mounted in my kithen)

I got the 3020 as a replacement for the CAs and as I was set up already in my living room I was lazy and put the 3020 in my kitchen. My assessment was they didn't sound any different in my kitchen than the 2020i did previously, so I didn't think necessary to put them in my main system.

I suppose what I'm saying is to me the 3020 and 2020i are pretty much equal.

Hi Muljao, thank you. Thats a helpfull answer. The 2020i are much cheaper than the 3020 and if they sound identical i think to place the older one's also on my audition list.

The 2020i are fabulous. Some might think the 3020 are better, but I think they sound very alike. I have actually seen one or two threads on different websites where some preferred the 2020i. Let us know how you get on

I reviewed my latest purchache on the Whathifi Product page of the NAD D3020. The moderator is checking it now before placement. I did not like the sound with the Dali zensor Pico so i returned it.

Im now leaning towards a PM 6005/6 with QA 2020i or 3020.

i've had QA 2010i with Yamaha AX397 and sold it.

Well I don't have the discerning ears of many here, but the marantz system I have now sounds better than anything I've had previously. A friend of mine has a Mission Cyrus with PSx supply, a Rocksan cd player and big castle floorstanding speakers. He couldn't get over how good my system sounded at probably 1/6th the price of his. Now I am not saying it's as good, just that its very good value. I was lucky to be able to pick up and end of lofe PM6005 for 195 pounds, but the 6006 is only 279 now, so either are fab value
