Question for Chebby - Firestone Audio

The opamp swap resulted in a cleaner sound with more detail and smoother treble.

The Supplier gave the sound more heft especially during denser/busier moments. Tighter bass too.

Do both upgrades at once. If you can afford the Supplier, then you can afford an extra tenner for the OPA2107AP.

It should be the 8 pin DIP version so you can just ease the old one out and slot the new one in easily without any soldering necessary. Earth yourself before switching them over.

chebby - where did you get the opamp from - i 'be been looking online and found an american company but they a lot more than a tenner - think the superchip was like $35

chebby just found your post on swapping them - missed that first - cheers

I 'chickened out' of getting the opamp cheap from ebay and opted to pay full-whack (£14) from RS Online to ensure I had a genuine and brand new one.

Type in OPA2107AP on ebay uk and you will find plenty being sold for much less.

its on by bedside cabinet with my onkyo nds1 and firestone fubar IV - bought because of the dac and headphone amp in one little box

http://www.firestone-audio.eu/shop/products/allproductslisted/fubar4.php - picked it up cheaply

Quite impressed - thinking of getting another to plug my squeezbox into to go in to the spare cyrus amp I have in my computer room or just straight from the computer and will sell the squeezebox although quite like the display!
