Monolith gets some great reviews! I'm no expert but 11 years for any sort of speaker is good going...I would have thought that a replacement would show great improvement!
I have a Monolith (Front Firing) and I must say I think it's superb and a bargain too. There's no middle man, so what you're paying goes direct to the manufacturer on top of which I found them very nice to deal with too. Not many manufacturers you can actually speak to should you want to. I can't say how it compares to others, but the online view on forums is very positive, the next step up (in forum world) being the offerings from SVS but they're much much more expensive.
