Hi,

I read the review of the 42X10B and it got me thinking/concerned...I have the 50X10 model, and while I'm really pleased with the picture (both SD & HD), is there any point in getting a blu-ray player? since I understand I'm losing a lot of detail...

I sit, by the way, about 12-13 ft (almost 4 meters) away from the screen.

Your opinions greatly appreciated...

Hi Nyorker - I have a 58V10 plus Pana BD 80 - I upgraded from 10801 Pioneer with Sony BDP 550 which was only giving a 1080i picture using BD player - the limit of the TV. Now I have a 1080p TV and Blu Ray the difference is very great and the BD picture stunning. The upscaled DVD picture is also improved. The HD pictures are amazing provided you use a HD source and not upscaled Sky SD in Sky HD channels. Hope that this helps. Regards, Brook.

a sony bd360 is only about £120 now , a 5 star product , im sure you would still get a great picture with blu ray on that , even at 720p ,try dances with wolves , amazing quality ..

Thanks for the replies...I forgot to mention that I have the set connected to a satellite HD connection (hence my HD material...) via 720p - 1080i was much too fuzzy.

Would Blu-Ray give me better picture quality?

In my experience, Blu-Ray still produces a better picture than HD satellite, even on an HD Ready TV.

Thanks, that answered a big part of my question!
