I am looking for a good quality sub sat system. I have heard the M+K Xenon 36 system with the SB12 sub and was very impressed. Is there another system around that can match it for around £2500 including all stands?

Be interested to see a review of the whole M&K range by What Hi-Fi now that they've come back to life. They have a massive range of speakers and subs and they could almost be bundled up and dealt with as a whole manufacturers special section.

I feel as though a major information update is needed. M&K are just too highly talked about and too lightly reviewed. We'd all benefit.

It's what the M&K's are designed for, plain and simple.

If there's no size issue, try the 750 pack, which is about the same price, but using larger satellite speakers. These give a bigger soundstage, are recommended if music is also on the menu, and just produce better dynamics than their tiny brothers can provide.

It's quite important to know what amplifier you'll be using with your intended speakers.

Hey Frank, I'm looking at around £1500 and the amp is an Onkyo 905. What M&K solution would you recommend?

Satellites must be white but sub can be any colour as long as front firing.

Be most grateful for suggestions!

Thanks for the feedback. I would like a system that is adept with music also. I am waiting for the new Arcam avr600 to complete a total overhal of my current Arcam AVR 350 / Linn Ninka/Trikan/Katan/ Sizemik set up.

I found the THX system by M+K to be a bit ugly for my front room!

The M1 pack consists of three M5 satellites, a pair of M4T tripole rear speakers, and the SB8 sub for £1495. The speakers are available in satin white and the sub in high gloss white.

If you prefer a little more kick, try the M5 pack at £100 more. This is the same but with the SB12 sub, which was reviewed by the WHF team in the current issue. The M7 package comes highly recommended though, which is £1750 but uses the M7 satellites across the front instead of the M5's, giving better power handling, and a fuller, clearer sound due to using extra mid drivers.

Personally, I feel the M's, 750's, and 150's fare batter with music than the other ranges. having said that, many people who have purchased M&K's for home cinema and used them for music have been surprised at how good they are. I think they sound more like studio monitors, giving you exactly what's there.
