I always found the sound of the Quad 909 to be rather laid back and bland, was wondering has anyone here heard the QSP?

As far as I’m aware, despite what IAG may claim it is essentially the same as the 909. I have the 909 and can’t say I’ve found it bland at all, what preamp did you hear it with, in my opinion the pre section will have a greater impact on the presentation than the power section. When I first replaced my integrated amp with the 909 I had to use makeshift preamps such as variable DAC outputs and an AV amp and then it did sound a little bland, adding a decent valve pre-amp changed it considerably for the better.

I should have mentioned I do actually own a 909 (two of them in fact). To answer your question I use a top cyrus pre-amp (pre x vs) which is full of life throughout the entire frequency range and is arguably the best pre cyrus ever made. I can assure you sir there is nothing wrong with my pre. I purchased my first 909 without listening to it because knowone had one available for audition where I live and I was attracted to the quads high power rating (140watts). I have always found the quad to be boring and laid back and would have liked to purchased some cyrus mono amps, but they are ridiculously expensive in Australia (almost double the UK price). Anyhow I'm not interested in talking about my gear, I'm interested in knowing if anyone has heard the QSP who may be able to comment on how it sounds compared to the 909. One person mentioned the QSP has more bass and more bite in the treble. IS ANYONE FAMILIAR WITH THE QSP? Would really appreciate some comments from people who have heard the QSP. Thankyou in advance
