I'm on the brink of purchasing a Naim UnitiQute2. I had a demo and also brought my Mission 752s with me for comparison. I've always been a fan of my 752's, but after hearing them on the unitiqute2, with a comparison with the stores Rega RS3's, I was shocked at how much more tight, open and revealing the Regas were.

So, I've been searching and have the chance of a nearly new pair of Quad 21L2s. Would these be a good speaker to go with the naim, and would the unitiqute's 30amp drive the speakers OK?

I'll not have a chance to hear them on the uniti, so it's a case of taking a gamble. The speakers are in mint condition at £240.

Thanks.

I think the Quads will work well with the Naim, and depending on your room size and how loud you listen would expect them to be pretty easy to drive actually. I would take a punt. As suggested, if you don't like them with the Naim you should be able to make your money back on them.

If they are as described 240€ is a bargan, what do you have to lose?

If you don't like them with the UnitiQute you can sell them after...

try to bring the price down a bit... :shifty:

I would be more tempted to go with these beauties.

Linn speakers work amazingly well with Naim.

I personally found Quad a little boring and unexciting, when demoed on the end of my Naim system.

Linn speakers are awesome.!!!! they are extremely fast and punchy and to my ears exciting.

Thanks for the feedback. I think I'll go for the quads as they could well be what I'm looking for. And if not, I should be able to recoup the cost easily.

Not seen the Linn's before, but they're a bigger floorstander than i'd planned.

The quads should be a nice upgrade from the Mission 752's either way.

Reading this thread my view is that your speaker matches for the Niam is a little on the ambitious side - its a 30watt per channel midi & while it maybe an excellent unit its still what it is.

It would never drive or control your Missions anywhere near their potential , the dealer who let you audition the Niam should have told you that.

The Rega are an easier load but would probably leave you wanting once you got them home. Me feels you'll get similar feelings with the Quads once they're in your home.

if your mind is set on the Niam with floor standers I'd suggest coming down a few price brackets ref your speaker choice - MS BX5's, Dali Zensor 5's or even Q Accoustic 2050 or consider standmounts and stands within your budget.
