Get some Chord Odyssey 2 or the slightly thinner and cheaper Rumor. Both very good cables and, in cable terms, well worth the upgrade. I went from Chord Carnival Bi-wire to Odyssey 2 and in particular found improvement in the bass and treble.

Hmmm, well, a question that I can't answer from any experience. Personally I would aim to upgrade all cables to the same level; yes, blue sky thinking, I know. A guess would be to do all the fronts at least so that the primary 'noise makers' for movies sound the same.

Are Odyssey 2 and Rumor bright cables? Well, no, but it depends on your kit as to the outcome you get. Given that you're coming from QED cables I'd like to think the Chord cables will be far more neutral and definitely not brighter. Some find that silver coated copper cables are bright but I would put that down to their system and room.

For me, Odyssey or Rumor would be a risk worth taking and I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I wouldn't worry too much about not upgrading the rear cable's they're just FX speakers, after all,it's the front three that will being doing most of the work.I use Chord Odyssey for my front's/centre and am using Chord Leyline for the rears with no detriment to SQ etc.

Definately. As always you must give the cables time to "break-in", like a fine wine, they will mature as time passes. I particularly noticed this in the bass department and the upper mids. When I first bought them I was blown away by the differemce in quality. After 2 weeks of music listening, the bass was very pragmatic.

Also worth a note, I have never heard so much detail in the upper mids as I have with the Odyssey, definately not a bright cable. The Chord is less bright than the QED, with far superior control throughout the bandwidth...defo worth the money...one of my best investments.

Pleased the opinions have influenced you

I just upgraded my QED SA because it was too bright/harsh on the top end. I went for 2 runs of QED Revelation to bi-amp my fronts and it was a major difference. I found they gave improved bass and much more depth to the midrange, plus they tamed the harsh top end, pretty much did what the WHF review said.

Upgraded my front and centre speakers from Silver Anniversary to Chord Odyssey 4 a few months ago. Much more detailed and balanced sound.
