My dad has four yamaha NS200 speakers that make up part of his 5.1 set-up, they are about ten years old. He was wondering if he would hear a big difference if he bought the Q Acoustic 1010 i 5.1 speaker package, as it is only £299.95 at Superfi.

I used to have a pair of NS200s - they are seriously good floorstanders and won What Hi-Fi awards. IMO the Q-Acoustics package - good as it is - would be a HUGE backwards step. Tonally, my Yamahas (partnered with an Arcam 85) were brilliant. They just lacked a bit of airiness, if I was being super critical.
I am pretty sure that, if he wants to change, he should be looking at packages in the Monitor Audio RX6 AV12 bracket.
