I am considering upgrading the two front speakers (Q Acoustic 1010i bookshelfs) in my setup to either the Q Acoustic 1030 Floorstanders or the 1050 Floorstanders.

Does anyone know much about these floorstanding speakers and will it be worth my while changing my bookshelf speakers for them?

Have heard very good things about the 1050s, and they look like spectacular value for money.

But tbh the move the floorstanders may depend very much on both your existing equipment and your room - standmounts may actually be ideal for them. What've you got and what's your room like?

Not meaning to hijack the thread, but how have you found the 1010i's? Im looking at the getting the 5.1 set and putting the 1010i's on stands......?

Ive got the Q Acoustic 1010i 5.1 speaker package all ran through an Onkyo TX-SR607 receiver. The front centre is underneath the tv on the glass stand; and the front left and right speakers are on Soundstyle Z2 speaker stands, with the back speakers on wall brackets. room is about 4m wide x 6m long. Tv is in the corner.

I quite fancy floorstanders and then ive got the option of having a 7.1 system also.

Answering the other question; quite simply the Q Acoustic 1010's are fantastic - I'd recommend them to anyone; they're larger than you think and punch way above their weight. Mine are partnered with the Onkyo 607 receiver and therefore provide a very muscular and powerful sound - watching movies is awesome. For the money they are great value.

Highly recommend the upgrade to the 1030i floorstanders, especially if you listen to music (but improves movies too).

Got mine for £169, so to me it was a bargain I could not refuse. The room is 14' x 12', so have not used the extra pair of 1010i's for a 7.1 set up - instead I bi amped the fronts to improve SQ further.

Just bought a Denon AVR 2310 receiver to replace my year old Onkyo 606 (currently available for purchase on a certain auction site!). This has really brought out the best from the Q Acoustics!!!

Hi there,

Sorry if it seems I am also hijacking this threat, but quite a few Q Acoustics peeps here so I thought I would ask...

I bought a new house and now need a new amp and speakers.

The idea is to use a QNAP NAS device to stream music to a Logitech Squeezebox Duet.
For movies the NAS feeds a Popcorn Hour.
The Duet should use a toslink input to a new Amp, which also has the Popcorn going into it.

While I would eventually like to get something in the price range of a B&W 600 series, i thought I would start of with something much smaller. My girlfriend is also really appreciative of this.

The new living room has this sort of shape:

-----------------------------------------------------------
TV

couch
-----------------------------------------------------------

My questions are as follows:
The couch will be right against the back of the wall, so what do I do for rear speakers?
While the Q1010is are great they are still larger than some satellite's like B&W MT-20s. I have no idea what I should do with a living room such as this and the setup.
Q1: Any advice on what should be used as back speakers?

Q2: What if I were to use a small satellite system like B&W MT-20, or even cheaper Jamo A102HCS5... and then 2 seperate speakers for music? Is this a good plan?

Q3: If the above (satellite + 2 good speakers) is a good plan. how do I know what fits with what?

regards,
Jasper

My room is (9x8)sqft,around (3x3)m.

Same question, should I go for 1050i instead of 1020i for my FR & FL speakers.

I 've listened to the music via 1020i, the result is satisfied but I need more details, clarity and vast improvement in the sound quality. Thus, I come out the idea to change them to 1050i but the major problem is my small room size...... Any idea??

Please advice!

Bi wiring the 1020i's offers a step up in sonic performance however I think the 1050i's would offer better sound and can also be bi wired. If your room is small I'm not sure the 1050i's are for you though.

Don't mean to sound like a numpty but what exactly is bi-wiring? What does it do and how do you do it?

Andy it's where you connect the treble and bass separately therefore improving treble and bass performance. You will be able to do this with your amp as I have the 607 however it will mean you cannot run a 7.1 set up as the extra terminal posts used on the amp for bi wiring are the surround back L/R
