This new projector was recently announced in America for just $1999!

The difference in the price is outrageous compared to the European version - €2699 / £2360

Is it likely that our price will be amended accordingly?

If not, I can foresee a great amount of US imports…

The PTAE4000 is £2399 in the UK and I doubt there will be a price reduction any time soon. Last year it was the other way round with the UK being cheaper than the US - such is the way of the currency.

will i be able to get a deal in december anywere? i really want the panasonic but iv got a strict £2000 budget! how does the panasonic compare to the new sony hw 15 wich is £2000?

At £2k I would opt for the PTAE3000 - there are still some available with free bulbs. Last year the HW10 and the 3000 fought it out and both are superb units. The Panasonic does have the upper hand on the motion though and that has always swung it for us. The HW15 will be with us next week with a bit of luck so we can compare it to the 3000.

Have you considered the JVC HD350 going for £2k at Richer Sounds?

this is as advertised on WHF's latest issue - you will need to show the ad to get this price as their website is still showing the old price (£2.5k)

Problem with a US one is that you'll need a step down transformer, and getting a cheaper one will affect video performance. Plus your warranty is only valid in the US, so shipping it back there will be at your own expense.
