PS3 & Sony DA1200ES Amp

Hi Peeps,

What is the best way to get HD Audio to this Amp? It has No HD Audio decoding. Can this be done with a PS3? or do I need a dedicated player with the Analogue outputs?

The amp doesn't support HD audio no matter how you connect your ancillary equipment to it.

You can get HD audio through this receiver. If you buy a BD player that decodes on board and has multi channel out, you can connect it to the 1200es with analogue cables to get HD audio. The PS3, as you will know, doesn't have multi channel out.

That has confirmed what I thought..... Always pays to ask !!!!

To be fair I dont think i would notice the difference between DTS and HD Audio on a 5.1 Surround sound system anyway!

Oh you would, most definitely you would! I would go as far to say that I have been impressed as much, if not more, with the difference between the sound from DVD to BD as with the difference in picture.
