I am thinking of finally getting a BluRay DVD player in the very near future and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations between the 2 systems in the title?. Was also thinking of gettingt he Onky SR606 to replace the amp, but may wait fort he review coming out next month implied in the previous posts.

I currently have a SonySTRDA5000ES Amp, with Kef 2005.2 speakers (have alos bought an extra couple of speakers for 7.1)

Thanks

Interested in gaming at all? If so, PS3 (though you'd need an update on your amp to get HD audio).
If not and you're thinking of keeping your amp, you really want to be looking at something like the BD50 rather than the BD30 as this will allow you to hook it up to your existing amp via analogue 5.1 channel connections and set the BD50 to decode the HD audio formats. If you've already decided on upgrading though, the BD30 will be fine as, once you've upgraded, you can bitstream the HD audio formats to the amp over HDMI.
Also, have a look here for plenty of previous posts on this subject!

We've already reviewed the Onkyo TX-SR606, as you can read here.

Well, will have a borrow of my brothers PS3 and hook it up to my system to gauge how good it is then. Thanks for the advice.

By updating the amp, you mean buy a new one

When I get a new amp, I am guessing setting the PS3 to output in HD to the amp is relatively straight forward

Yup, once you've hooked the PS3 up to the new amp using HDMI, there is a setting in the BD/DVD Settings menu called BD / DVD Audio Output Format (HDMI) - set this to Linear PCM to get HD Audio decoded onboard and sent out as Linear PCM. When watching a normal DVD, set it back to Bitstream so that the standard Dolby Digital / DTS signal is sent out for the amp to decode.
