Is the Blu Ray in the PS3 250GB better than the one in the old 40GB or are we talking the same quality

Also anyone know how to transfer all the data from the old player to the new one?

I recently sold my 40GB and bought a 120GB PS3 slim. Picture wise there is no difference but there was an improvement in sound quality as the slim can bitstream HD sound. I copied all my media and game saves on a memory card and saved them to the PS3 slim. Then i re signed into the Play Station network and re downloaded my games onto the ps3 slim. Just make a note of your log in and password on the FAT PS3

If your 40Gb is still working you can use the transfer utlility in fw3.15 to transfer everything but it removes the data from the old machine. If you are keeping it then you need to use either an external usb disk or memory stick to transfer data. Don't forget some game saves cannot be copied using this method because they are copy restricted

Better bet (in my opinion) is just to upgrade the hard drive in your 40GB PS3 - a heck of a lot cheaper than buying a new one. However, if you do decide to upgrade, just use the sections in my guide (link in my sig) on backing up and restoring to transfer your data from one PS3 to the other.

Well my original PS3 died last week and I have the 250gb version coming today. Once I've spun a couple of Blu-Rays I'll let you know. To be honest I'm not expecting to see much, if any, difference.
